Day 6 of 12 Days of Christmas
On the sixth day of Christmas…
For today’s idea, I want to give you some inspiration on pantry meals.
Here are 6 ideas for meals you can make from your pantry
- Pancakes with fruit – Buy a “complete” pancake mix. If you get this type, you will only need to add water. I like to add some vanilla and cinnamon to kick it up a notch. Then you can serve it with some canned fruit, like mandarin oranges, sliced peaches, etc. You can even use the fruit in place of syrup and butter.
- Tuna Noodle casserole – Cook elbow noodles (or your favorite shape), reserve some of the pasta water. Add 2 cans of tuna, salt and pepper and a little pasta water. Top with breadcrumbs and bake till warm. You can also add milk, butter, and/or shredded cheese to the breadcrumbs. Another idea to make this a complete meal is to add a can of corn, peas or green beans.
- Tuna or chicken salad wraps – Make tuna or chicken salad with canned meat and mayo. You can add relish or chopped pickles also. Then serve with flour tortillas. Bonus – everyone can make their own!
- Buffalo chicken quesadillas – Make buffalo chicken dip with canned chicken, buffalo sauce and ranch dressing. Warm a flour tortilla in a pan then add your dip. If you have shredded cheese, you can add some of that to the dip and/or quesadilla.
- Buffalo Chicken Pasta – Make the buffalo dip, again, with canned chicken, buffalo sauce and ranch dressing. Use a little more ranch dressing than you would for regular dip. Mix with cooked pasta. You can also add some shredded cheese, bleu cheese and/or celery if you have it.
- Taco rice – Cook rice. You can use white rice, brown rice or even a flavored, prepackaged pouch or box. Add salsa and black beans. Eat as is or wrap burrito-style in flour tortillas. You can also add shredded cheese and ground meat if you have that on hand.
