5 Fun Halloween Family Dinner Ideas
Are you looking for fun Halloween dinner ideas that you can serve before you all run out the door? Or you can even do a fun theme night before or after to extend the Halloween fun.
These are meals that I’ve made over the years with my own kids and the children that I babysat. Some are easier and quicker than others and some take more planning and time. You can tweak these to fit your own timeframe.
You can make any of these with very little prep, or you can invest lots of time and make it a fun family event on a weekend afternoon.
Jack-O-Lantern Burgers or Sloppy Joes with skeleton fingers and blood
Here’s a simple one to elevate your regular family meal to a fun Halloween family dinner. Just make your favorite burgers or sloppy joes and cut shapes out of cheese so everyone can decorate their own sandwich. Here’s a great recipe for a different kind of sloppy joe.
Serve with French fries (skeleton fingers) and ketchup (blood)
If you want to add more fun, use shredded lettuce for hair, pickles for cheeks or eyes, black olives for eyes or eye lashes, etc.
You could even have a contest for the best face.
Halloween Veggie Tray
This is another easy one. You can customize it any way you want. I used the pre-cut crinkle cut carrots as a base. Then add any of your favorite veggies for the eyes, nose, mouth and stem.
You could also make this a charcuterie board by adding meat and cheese.
Jack-o-Lantern Pizza Dip
This one is fun and can be eaten quickly (once it cools off, of course). It’s easy to customize by adding ground meat instead of or in addition to the pepperoni or veggies to enhance your Jack-o-lantern’s face. You and your family can have so much fun with this.
Jack-O-Lantern Pizza Dip
Ingredients
- pizza dough
- 8 oz cream cheese softened
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
- 1 cup parmesan cheese shredded
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce
- pepperoni slices
- additional toppings
Instructions
- Unroll pizza dough and cut out shapes for the face. Use the rest to make knots.
- Spread the cream cheese on the bottom of a 9-inch pie plate (use a foil pan for easy clean up).
- Add half the mozzarella cheese and all of the parmesan cheese on top of cream cheese.
- Spread pizza sauce on top of cheeses and then add remaining mozzarella.
- Add pepperoni then cut out pieces of dough for the face. Place knots around the edge of the pan.
- Bake at 375 for about 20 minutes or until golden brown.
Mummy Dogs
This can double as a craft for the kids and dinner!
Take some refrigerated dough and cut into strips. Wrap around your favorite hot dog in mummy fashion. Bake on a cookie sheet at 375 for about 15 minutes. Serve with blood (ketchup) and guts (mac and cheese)
Mummy Pizza
Here’s where you can let your creative juices flow! Are you not very creative? That’s fine too. It will still be fun.
I used individual-size pre-made pizza crust, but you can use any pizza dough. Add pizza sauce and toppings. Bake till bubbly and the cheese is melted.
The possibilities are endless for toppings but here’s some ideas
- strips of string cheese to make a mummy
- mushrooms, olives, pepperoni for eyes, nose, mouth, cheeks
- Ham and pineapple chunks for mouth and teeth
- Crushed pineapple for hair
- Broccoli for ears, hair or stem
- Ground meat for hair and mouth
- Bacon for mouth or stem
This can be a fun weekend activity for your family. Invite another family over and make a contest out of it.
I can’t wait to make these again with my grandkids! Which of these Halloween family dinner ideas make you the most excited to try?
